Building

Church planting has been one of the most exciting, challenging and rewarding things I have ever done. It does have a tendency to keep you on your toes though and every now and again it throws something unexpected into the mix. Something like that happened today. An e-mail arrived from Strathclyde University indicating that the building we have used for our worship services since we launched the church in August 2009 will no longer be available to us, giving us four weeks notice to find new premises.

So a fresh new chapter awaits for Harvest Bible Chapel Glasgow. Please pray for us for wisdom and provision in the coming days. I can honestly say that I have a massive amount of anticipation as to what God is going to do in the next season. I am encouraged that He has moved us on in order to move us out to serve the city better for His glory.

Interesting that this Sunday we will see, in Acts 11, how the seed of the Gospel is scattered when the church is dispersed from where it could very readily become comfortable.

Interesting that one of the things I intended to lead with this Sunday was how we should not lose sight of the fact that we are a church plant and not an established church so we need to be careful against becoming complacency or comfortable.

Interesting that in Acts there is a sense that God always makes the first move.

Here is a short video that I hope encourages you, I just wanted to look you in the eyes and encourage you with some things and exhort you to some things. Below the video are some specific ways that you can pray for us right now.

  • Wisdom for the leadership team of the church as they seek the Lord as to the way forward.
  • Pray for the leadership team as they meet tomorrow evening to discuss our immediate options and to pray.
  • Pray for a lasting legacy in the lives of the security staff at the university. They have served us so well, that we would be able to serve them with the good news of Jesus.
  • Pray for guidance to a facility that will allow us to be of impact for God's glory.
  • Pray for provision for any additional needs that our next facility will require.
  • Give thanks that God already has a place in His plan where He intends to bring about life transformation and allow us to see it.

Let me just remind you of our Build vision that we shared this time last year. How many of these things will God accomplish in where He moves us to next?

Ignite a nation: 6 churches in 6 cities

Impact to Salvation: Those loved and yet to be met

Influence through Transformation: Change by serving and sending

Impetus through Location: A building that builds for God

'For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.' Hebrews 3:4
