Here is a new occasional series we will have on the blog. 5 to chew on will feature five quotes on a particular area. Yesterday I was spending time thinking about leadership with seven of our folks here at Harvest Glasgow who are participating in our summer school programme. We spent some time thinking about what these different quotes looked like in the context of a local church.

From time to time we may offer a follow-up post with some fruit of our ponderings on these things. Check back on Saturday for one of those.

If a Christian is not willing to rise early and work late, to expend greater effort in diligent study and faithful work, that person will not change a generation. Fatigue is the price of leadership. J. Oswald Sanders

When a general gets too far ahead of his troops, he’s often mistaken for the enemy. Anon

A leader must have a servant's heart. And if he has a servant's heart, he will act like a servant and react like a servant when he is treated like a servant. Wayne Mack

The Christian leader never equates mediocrity with the things of God, but is always committed to the pursuit of excellence. Ted Engstrom

Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Hebrews 13: 7
