Euanthe's Monday Memo

Hey, my name is Euanthe. I'm pretty excited to get to tell you all about what happened at Harvest Glasgow on Sunday each Monday. This is a new thing for me (I learnt a thing or two from Eutychus, my elder sibling) but I love spending time thinking about all that God has been teaching me on a Sunday. Hopefully you can join me regularly for this. So here goes:

Is it Obvious?: Some questions to consider

What a beautiful Sunday we had to gather as a church family and worship our Lord together. We started the morning with a great time of lifting high the name of Jesus in song then we kicked off a two week mini series focusing on two key words for living a life of high impact. This weeks word: Obvious. I personally found this to be a sermon that was challenging, convicting, and encouraging giving me lots to think about , and pray that the Lord worked in your heart this weekend too.

With our scripture focus taken from 2 Corinthians 6:1-13, we first were asked to embrace this opportunity:

  1. To work with him: he wants to use us to spread the fragrance of him to the world
  2. To be changed by him: As we press on we see the Lord changing our lives
  3. To live for him: NOW is the favourable time God has given us to live for him

Are you making the obvious choice and fully embracing all this?

When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we are changed!! Which brings us to the next question: are your living life in a why that is obvious that the Lord has changed you from the inside out? Hardships, holiness, and the highs and lows are three ways we evidence our new reality and life in Christ. How do you handle the trials that come your way? Do you run from them or endure and keep trusting regardless of the situation? I loved the quote Pastor Scott referenced about all this:

"Trials are intended to make us think, to wean us from the world, to send us to the bible, to drive us to our knees." J. C. Ryle

What about your character and attitudes? Are they reflective of the Lord gripping your heart and transforming you? The truth is, that we have many people within the church who look up to us and are watching how we live our christian lives. Likewise, there are many outside of the church who watch and see how we respond to Gods word and calling in our lives and are looking for something authentic in us…are they finding that in you?

After the message together we sang "The Stand" which fit so well with the last point of extending ourselves generously with open hearts abandoned to the one who changed us. "I'll stand with arms high and heart abandoned, in awe of the one who gave it all, i'll stand my soul Lord to your surrendered, all I am is yours." Does your life evidence this reality?

There was so much to reflect on after this sermon and as new week begins here are a few more questions to ponder:

Will you serve Jesus or sideline him?

Will you listen up to his word and live it; or simply take it and leave it?

Which team will you choose- righteousness or rebellion?

Will you live to please God or man?

Looking forward to gathering next Sunday,

You are Loved!

Euanthe
