6 Affirmations of a Great Church

From time to time our small group has what we call a low prep week. Normally we have a Bible passage or book chapter to read or questions to answer from the sermon the previous Sunday. On a low prep week we turn up, eat cake, watch a sermon together and then chat about it. Last night we watched a sermon by Pastor James MacDonald entitled 6 Affirmations of a Great Church from Colossians 3: 12-17. His point was that there are certain areas that every church should be growing in as we seek to serve one another in increasing our love for Jesus. It was such a helpful message and a very timely reminder of what a healthy and Biblical culture of Gospel relationship looks like. These were the main headings from the message.

We will accept you as you change (You don’t have to get there to be here)
We will forgive you when you fall.
We will love you no matter what.
We will submit to the peace of God.
We will speak the word of Christ richly.
We will live for Jesus exclusively.
