Restore My Soul

On Sunday we spent some time on our service considering what happened in Nineveh in Jonah 3. It's an awesome picture of God working out a transformation in the lives of many people. We thought about how awesome it is when God works in hard places off the back of watching this video:

What we also realised was that the first hard place that God has to work before we see anything like that happen around us is in us. It is that our hearts are a hard place.. You can listen to the whole message here and track with the whole Relentless series on the book of Jonah here.
At the conclusion of the service we considered some statements which would help us to see the areas we might need some sort of restoration or renewal in, some places where we needed God's grace to breathe new life into our hearts.
I cannot remember the last time I really spent time in prayer
I cannot remember the last time I was really hungry to know God deeper
I am so distracted and distant from God that I am living as if God doesn’t exist
I know there are specific areas of my life where I am deliberately resisting God
I know there are areas where I am making the things I think will make me happy above the things I know will make me holy
It is a long time since I cut off, shut out, turned off, removed myself quickly from things that are unholy and unworthy of a follower of Jesus Christ
I have managed to convince myself that things are great with me, but inside I know there is so much that needs fixed
God sees who & what you are, God loves you and sent His Son Jesus to die for you and placed His Holy Spirit in you to transform you: and He says to you come to the cross, be restored, be made new, be revived. Restore my soul.
