Travel Arrangements for This Sunday
by Scott Hamilton on Friday, 15th May 2015
Due to the Women’s 10k road race this coming Sunday (May 17) there will be some significant road closures. We want you all to make it along for the next part of our series on 1 Corinthians, and a special time spent in worship. To help you with this we want to give you a summary of affected routes and make some suggestions about how to get to us most easily. Please leave extra time for your journey. You can click on this link (Page 8 of 14) for the map and below are some suggestions on how to get there without, we hope, too much disruption.
The closest disruption is that Dumbreck Road will be closed meaning that junction 1 of the M77 will be closed and there will be no access to the church coming past Bellahouston Park and Pollok Park.
Our suggestions are as follows:
From the Northwest: Travel through the Clyde Tunnel and approach the church via Shields Road and Darnley Street and Darnley Road. Alternatively travel via the Kingston Bridge and approach via Pollokshaws Road, Albert Drive and Darnley Road.
From the West: Approach via Shields Road, Darnley Street and Darnley Road.
From the East and North East: If you usually travel via Junction 1 of the M77 there are a couple of options. Coming across the Kingston Bridge exit at the junction at the end of the bridge (Signpost Tradeston/East Kilbride I think) and travel via Pollokshaws Road, Albert Drive and Darnley Road. If you are travelling from Motherwell and surrounding area take the exit at Polmadie (Junction 1A/A728). Turn left at the traffic lights at the end of the slip road and drive until the next Junction (Calder Street) where you will want to be in the right lane to turn right onto Calder Street (A useful landmark here is Zion Baptist Church on the corner). Continue along Calder Street until you reach Pollokshaws Road. Continue across Pollokshaws Road until you reach a roundabout. Go straight at the roundabout heading for the traffic lights you will see there. Turn left at the Traffic lights and then right after Sainsburys Local. You will then be on Fotheringay Road.
Hopefully this will get you there but it would be wise to leave some additional time for travel. Can’t wait to see you on Sunday.
