Happy Birthday Harvest Glasgow
by Scott Hamilton on Friday, 16th August 2019
10 years ago as I write this we were unloading the cars we had used to transport all the church equipment from a storage container and taking them up the stairs to the university lecture theatre where we would have our first service as Harvest Glasgow. I don't think we had any idea of how that day would go never mind what the following 10 years would hold.
So as we celebrate today and party tonight and gather on Sunday to worship together and open God's Word in the morning and share stories of God's goodness together on Sunday evening the question is what might have in store for us over the next 10 years.
3 things we would love to see happen and we would ask for you to be praying about:
1. More churches planted. We are asking the Lord to allow us to be involved in sending or supporting a new church plant every 5 years. That means a lot of things. It means we need wisdom as to how to develop and train pastors to plant churches. We need God to show us opportunities to plant in places where He would have us go. It means we need God to provide the resources for all of that.
2. More staff added. More staff means increased Disciple-making capacity. Our goal is to bring staff on who will increase our capacity to deepen people in their walk with Jesus and always with the wider goal of those staff members being a potential resource for church planting.
3. More hearts turned towards Jesus. For salvation. In worship. Our greatest longing is for eternities to be changed. For our church to be filled with people drawn to Jesus because they see how glorious He is and so turn to Him rather than the drought of what the world offers.
So join in celebtrating with us and pray for 10 more years of:
Preaching that takes God at His Word
Worship that turns hearts towards Jesus
Prayer that trusts in God's promises and provision
Evangelism that speaks clearly and courageously about Jesus
Disciple-making that trains lives to live for God's glory
For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. (Psalm 86: 10)
